OUR STORY

Opcode Games was born from a simple passion that never went away. A love for classic arcade games, real hardware, and the magic of holding a physical game in your hands. What started in the late 90s as a one person project has grown into a small but dedicated studio run by me, Ed, and my wife Grazi. We are originally from Brazil and have been living in the United States for almost twenty years. Together we design, develop, publish, pack, and ship every game with the care of true fans making something for other fans.

Our journey began with the ColecoVision. Back then I had a goal that seemed crazy at the time, to bring arcade quality experiences to the system using real hardware, not emulation. That led to the Super Game Module, which expanded the memory and audio capabilities of the ColecoVision and helped spark a new wave of homebrew development.

Since then more than one hundred games from different developers have been released for the module, and over three thousand units have been sold worldwide.
From the start our philosophy has been simple. If you are going to make a physical game, then make it the way it deserves to be. Our games come in deluxe hard cover style boxes, with high quality printing, metallic inks, and laminated labels. Manuals are professionally printed and designed to feel like something you would have found on store shelves in the eighties. We want these games to be something you proudly display on your shelf, not just store in a drawer.
In recent years we expanded beyond the ColecoVision to the Atari 2600 and 7800. Just like before, we are investing in new hardware, including our own proprietary cartridge shells and PCBs that are assembled in proper factories for maximum reliability. These new cartridges use sliding doors like the original Atari releases, with no holes or rough finishes, and are built to look and feel like premium collector items.

Opcode is no longer just about our own games. We now partner with talented homebrew developers from around the world, offering fair royalties, premium production, and full credit on packaging. We believe developers should be front and center, and our role is to support them with manufacturing, logistics, marketing, and distribution. We also publish Opcode News, a quarterly printed magazine that highlights new and upcoming releases, developer interviews, and updates for the community. Through our Super Game Club, members receive exclusive content, collectibles, competitions, and printed materials that celebrate classic gaming in a physical way.

Even after all these years, Opcode is still a small team. There is no big corporation behind us. It is just passion, late nights, boxes in the living room, and a genuine love for making something real. Games that feel like they could have existed back then, but built today with care and respect for history.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Whether you have been with us since the days of Space Invaders Collection or just discovered us through a new Atari release, we are happy you are here. The arcades may have gone quiet, but the pixels are still alive.
